He is Risen! - Easter Sunday
Jesus’ disciples felt fear and desperation at his death, but Easter replaced those feelings with joy and exhilaration. Jesus is risen!
What is Easter all about?
The Bible answers that question. It tells the story of Jesus: how he came into our world, how he lived, his friendships, his teachings, his miracles, his love for people, and his hopeful offer of life, abundant life, everlasting life.
The Bible provides a vivid, gripping account of Jesus’ life. It includes information that was provided by his closest friends. In order to understand Easter, it is important to understand the story of Jesus’ life, with all the backround events leading up to Easter. And then there’s the cross. Yes, the cross. That’s where Jesus underwent a brutal execution. It’s a difficult part of the story, but in order to understand Easter, you’ll need to understand what happened at the cross and why it happened.
After the cross, we’re back to Easter; the most hopeful part of Jesus’ story. It really is a wonderful story and Easter is a wonderful time to celebrate. Over the next few days we will reflect on parts of Jesus story that are meaningful when thinking about Easter. We will highlight some challenging things that Jesus said, some key events from his life and some related teachings found in the Bible.
